SEND Co-ordinator: Miss Lora Edmonds.
Miss Edmonds ensures that, as a school, we are following the Code of Practice (2014) as well as ensuring all practice in school is in line with our Special Educational Needs Policy.
SEND Governor: Mrs Esther Thorpe.
Our Annual Information Report can be found here. This report is written for parents/carers and provides information on the SEND provision at Newton Leys Primary School and Nursery.
Our SEND policy can be found on our policies page.
At Newton Leys Primary School and Nursery, we are extremely proud of the progress our children with additional needs make.
We value all achievements, no matter what they look like, including gaining new knowledge and understanding academically, developing social skills or just having the confidence to say good morning during the register.
We are dedicated to working together across the school and, where necessary, with outside agencies to ensure our children are happy and successful.
School Inclusion Team
We have a number of staff working across the school to support our children and families, they are:
Miss Edmonds – SENDCo and Designated Teacher for Children Looked After
Mrs Westerby – Parent/carer support
Mrs Christmas-Stone – Learning Mentor
Mrs Kelly – Welfare Officer
Parent/Carer involvement:
Our Inclusion Team hold monthly Family Hub meetings which are themed to focus on different areas that our families may find useful. Some of our previous themes have been: SEND support, routines at home, starting school and anxiety.
The purpose of the meetings is for parents and carers to meet together informally, to talk about experiences, establish new connections and share support.
It also gives the staff team the opportunity to regularly pass on information from the Milton Keynes SEND team regarding events and training opportunities for families.
