Our NLPS Curriculum
Our curriculum puts the child at the centre of their education and our ethos of Nurture, Achieve and Excel has driven our curriculum and is at the heart of everything we do. To achieve this, we use our SMART values: Sensitive, Motivated, Aspirational, Resilient and Truthful.
We aim to facilitate our children’s development to achieve their potential through their journey with us. Our ambitious curriculum is designed to be broad and balanced while taking into account the outcomes of the National Curriculum. It gives our children the opportunity to build upon the knowledge of the experiences they have already had in their lives and throughout their education while building further. We aim to develop their learning skills to develop their curiosity, resilience and ability to learn, supporting them to become lifelong learners.
The key principles that influence our curriculum are:
- Facilitating our culture of Nurture, Achieve and Excel throughout our community.
- Utilising our SMART values to support our children’s holistic development and enabling them to reach their potential.
- Become lifelong learners, utilising their experiences and building upon these to develop their understanding of the world.
- The use of Rosenshine’s principles and other pedagogical research to ensure consistently high expectations of teaching and learning.
- Working with children’s parents and carers to form a team around the child, supporting them to achieve their potential
- Removing barriers that children have to learning but recognising that all children are individuals and should be celebrated.
Ultimately, we intend to support our children to be happy, able to reach their potential and be able to contribute to the community and the world.
